Return from Summer:                 Weds 4th September

BREAKFAST CLUB

Can I remind parents that entry to the breakfast club is 8.20am at the earliest. I have been told that recently a number of unaccompanied children have turned up at school as early as 8.00am.

Last  entry to breakfast club is at 8.45am. Children will be able to go straight to class when the breakfast club finishes at 8.55am.

CROSS COUNTRY

Our final race of the season was held on Saturday 20th April, once again, at Chadderton Park.

There were super efforts from all the runners, particularly Peter White who came first in his age group race.

Other runners who represented the school so well were:

Shai Garlick, Jack Whaley, Calvin Wrigley, Kieran Chadderton, Leon Wrigley, Kayleigh Hall, Aimee White, Nikita Hall, Hayley Borland, and Conner Wrigley.

The cross country season has now finished, so we will begin our training sessions once again in the next academic year- around the end of September.

UNIFORM & JEWELLERY

Staff have noticed a number of children wearing false nails and nail art in school.  These are not allowed and present a health and safety hazard to the child and others during sports and play activities.  Parents/carers are reminded that children should be dressed sensibly for school so they can take part in all activities.  Staff will speak to parents of children wearing unsuitable items for school.

HOLIDAYS IN TERM TIME

The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 currently allow headteachers to grant leave of absence for the purpose of a family holiday during term time in “special circumstances” of up to ten school days leave per year. Headteachers can also grant extended leave for more than ten school days in exceptional circumstances.

However, amendments to the 2006 regulations have now removed references to family holidays and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days.

The amendments make clear that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

This means that from 1st September 2013, holidays taken in term time will not be allowed to be authorised.
