Mens Mental Health Month
As you may already know, November celebrates Mental Health Month. Movember – Men’s Health
Mental illness affects people of every gender, and while the specifics may differ, it’s incorrect to assume that men don’t struggle simply because they are often portrayed, or expected, to be strong and silent. This expectation is rooted in toxic masculinity and has resulted in poor mental health outcomes for men. (Men’s mental health – Mental Health UK)
Whilst November is a great way to spread awareness, we should be offering support to our male colleagues, family members, parents and any other male you come in contact with on a daily basis.
Here are some resources and support networks you can share :
Andy’s Man Club – This is a mens suicide prevention charity which offers free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online. You can find the nearest group here: https://andysmanclub.co.uk/find-your-nearest-group/
